Geojutex

woven geotextiles

General Properties

Geojutex is a black geotextile used for many civil engineering and building applications. It is manufactured by special weaving processes from polyprophylene strip fibre and it is characteristised by its high strength in both directions while having very low elongation. Its positive price allows a wide range of Geojutex for use in various constructions of terrestrial, transport, water and ecological buildings where the geotextile reinforces or separates, filters or protects against erosion. UV stabilization and resistance to chemical and biological agents are characteristics of Geojutex.

Quality Assurance

JUTA a.s. pays special attention to technical development and quality control of its geotextiles. Geojutex is manufactured in accordance with the company ISO 9001 quality system procedures. Quality is regularly tested not only by own laboratory but also by independent testing institutes.

Applications

  • reinforcement of foundation layers for weak subsoils for construction of roads, motorways, temporary roads, railways, tramway tracks, airports, car parks

  • reinforcement of embankments, slopes, banks andreservoir walls

  • building of supporting constructions and armouredterrestrial bodies

  • drainage systems

  • technical water constructions

Basic Functions and Properties

When geotextiles with stregth at tension is applied between loose and firm layer of ground, a composite terrestrial body is formed from geotextile and soil. Geojutex hereat acts as reinforcement and helps significantly to increase capacity of construction layer. When embankments are built on a soft and weak subsoil, Geojutex inserted between the subsoil and the embankment increases the subsoil carrying-capacity. At the same time Geojutex ensures a general stability of the embankment until the soil increases its shear strength again. Geojutex used for horizontal reinforcing of embankment layers of supporting constructions or sheer embankments ensures required safety of those constructions. Advantages of geotextile installation is a possibility of building of very steep surfaces also on bad subsoils, a high reduction of filling material and a reduction of a built-up area. A woven structure of Geojutex ensures not only a separation of a foundation layer from the subsoil and prevents its mixing but also enables water passing throughout the whole construction lifetime at the same time.
A special woven structure of Geojutex enables creating of a natural filter made from soil particles on its surface. That is why Geojutex does not clog for a very long time.

Handling and Transportation Procedures

Transportation must be undertaken by clean vehicles. During loading and other handling it is necessary not to damage the geotextiles mechanically, not tor perforate them. When the geotextile is being laid, make sure that there are no sharp rocks on the ground or gravel as they could perforate the gotextile. Heavy machinery must not go directly on to the geotextile.
The geotextile can be used at temperatures from -5°C to 60°C, and also at the temperature 160°C for a short time.

Joining

A basic method of geotextile sheets joining is their overlapping. The extent of the overlap is specified in project documentation, or a better joint can be required - sewing.
